Hume City Shopfront Improvement Grant Program

Hume City Council is keen to support local retail and hospitality businesses to create fresh facades for their shopfronts.

The Shopfront Improvement Program offers grants of up to $5000 (plus GST) to improve the presentation of shopfronts, which will add to the overall streetscape, visual appeal and help to drive foot trade.

The shopfront must be in a shopping strip in Hume and not located inside of a shopping centre.

Some examples of what may be funded under this project include:

  • improved accessibility – installing automatic doors and installing a wheelchair ramp
  • awning and canopies
  • planter boxes
  • lighting
  • new signage or replacing old signage (in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements)
  • painting the facade of the shop
  • redecorating exterior shopfront walls
  • upgrades to windows and doors
  • window decals.

Please note you do not need to attend a workshop to apply for a Shopfront Improvement grant.

In Hume we have a diverse mix of shopping centres, from the major retail centres of Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Gladstone Park, Roxburgh Park and Sunbury to the large number of neighbourhood centres meeting the daily needs of residents.

We are committed to growing these centres by actively supporting the development of trader associations and providing a program of seminars and workshops to further develop the skills of the retailers.

Sunbury Town Centre CBD

The retail focus or ‘core’ of the Sunbury CBD fronts Evans and Brook Streets and O’Shanassy Street between Station and Brook Streets.

Sunbury Town Centre is the primary retail and commercial centre in the Sunbury region. It includes a mix of convenience stories, retail outlets and high-end brands.

Tullamarine
