Home Energy Upgrades

Are your energy bills going up, but you’re still cold in winter and hot in summer? An efficient, all-electric home can help you save hundreds every year on energy bills and improve your comfort. You can also enjoy the benefits of clean, renewable energy and help to reduce emissions to our environment.

Through our new Home Energy Upgrades program, we have partnered with Yarra Energy Foundation and vetted suppliers EnviroGroup and Enviroflex to provide quality, affordable electric appliances, insulation and draught proofing to Hume residents.

Note for Hume Solar Roll-Out customers
The Hume Home Energy Upgrades program builds on the previous Hume Solar Roll-Out that offered residents quality, affordable rooftop solar energy systems. The Hume Solar Roll-Out accepted new registrations until the end of August 2024. If you registered by that date and requested quotes you will still receive quotes from the supplier. You may also like to receive quotes from the new Home Energy Upgrades program to compare. For any queries about the Hume Solar Roll-Out, please contact Yarra Energy Foundation on (03) 7037 6040 or email information@yef.org.au

Help to access Victorian Government and Council rebates

Our program partners can help you access applicable rebates and no interest loans from the Victorian Government.

In addition, Hume City Council is offering attractive rebates, valued between $400 and $1000 per upgrade, to concession card holders who choose to have products installed through the Hume Home Energy Upgrades program. Limited Council rebates are available.

How much will my home energy upgrades cost?

The base prices of all available products are published on the Home Energy Upgrades program website, and our vetted suppliers provide quotes specific to your needs (for example, sizing hot water and heating and cooling systems to suit your household and budget).

The final cost depends on specific circumstances, such as any switchboard upgrades, additional wiring and rebates applied. Free, no obligation quotes will detail the final cost for your install.

Assistance for rental properties

If you are the owner of a rental property in Hume, you can receive quotes and choose to have any of the Home Energy Upgrade products supplied and installed by our vetted suppliers. Rebates are available for properties with a long-term (5-year) lease.

If you are a tenant, let your rental property owner or manager know that they can improve their property through quality, affordable energy upgrades available via the Hume Home Energy Upgrades program.

All rental properties must have an efficient fixed heater (not portable) in good working order in the main living area. From October 2025, new proposed standards will require insulation and draught proofing for properties under a new lease.
