Join the Sustainability Taskforce - Council’s Environment Advisory Committee
Hume’s Sustainability Taskforce is Council's community environmental advisory committee and a forum for community members to have input into the design and delivery of Council’s environmental strategies and programs. Volunteer members provide advice and feedback to Council and make recommendations to Council on environmental issues. The Taskforce is open to applicants from across the Hume community, including environment groups, rural land holders, business and industry, education and community groups.

Taskforce meetings
The Sustainability Taskforce is chaired by Cr Jodi Jackson who currently holds the Environment Portfolio.
The Taskforce meets six times each year on Tuesday nights between 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
Taskforce membership
To be eligible to be a member of the Taskforce you must live, work, study or volunteer in the Hume municipality. Please read the Terms of Reference(PDF, 316KB) before applying to nominate as a member of the Taskforce.
Taskforce outcomes
The Taskforce has provided advice, feedback and input to Council for the following:
- International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons
- Emergency management of toxic waste storage and recycling fires
- Container Deposit Scheme
- Declaring a Climate Emergency
- Hume's Sustainable Events Guidelines
- Hume's Live Green Plan, and Land and Biodiversity Plan
- Recommendation for Hume to cease the use of gas
