The Live Green Plan 2021-2026(PDF, 3MB) outlines the objectives and actions of Council surrounding priority themes identified by the community. These key themes include:

Energy saving and climate change action
Waste reduction and increased recycling and composting
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’s ecological practices
Connecting with nature and taking action to protect it, and
Food growing and sustainable food.

Discover Nature in Hume

There are many natural areas within Hume which are waiting to be explored. Hume includes a range of indigenous plants, threatened vegetation communities, wildlife, waterways and sites of cultural and geological significance.

Hume Enviro Champions

The Hume Enviro Champions program provides free training to community members to develop, implement and evaluate environmental community projects.

Live Green Program

Supporting sustainable living in Hume City through community programs, workshops, events, and sustainability education in local schools.

Nature Stewards Program

Become a Nature Steward and learn about your local environment, meet like-minded people, and find ways to get outdoors and volunteer

Sustainability Taskforce

The Sustainability Taskforce is Council's community environmental advisory committee and allows community members to contribute to Council’s environmental strategies and programs.

Gardens for Wildlife

Gardens for Wildlife supports households, schools and businesses to create a wildlife-friendly garden.
