Nature Stewards Program
The Nature Stewards program is a 10-week environmental education course designed and delivered by Outdoors Victoria in collaboration with local Councils.
Hume City Council has partnered with City of Melton and Macedon Ranges Shire Council to form the North West Hub, offering a unique Nature Stewards program that will take you to locations across the three municipalities - showcasing some of the wonderful nature our cities have to offer.
The hands-on course aims to build and promote knowledge, capacity and connection to environmental issues. Participants are guided through local examples of natural significance, environmental management and concerns by trainers who are experts in their field.
Program content consists of introductory level environmental education sessions on topics such as:
- soils
- local ecosystems
- flora and fauna
- past and present management
- climate
- fungi
- pests
- geology
If you love getting outdoors, learning about your local area and meeting other locals who do too, sign up for the summer/autumn Nature Stewards program.
The 2022 North West Hub Nature Stewards program is run over 10 sessions from March to June in 2022. The program will include four field trips across three municipalities to compliment the learnings from classroom sessions.
Cost: $175 full fee, $45 Concession (healthcare card holder, pensioner & full-time student)
