Hume residents are being encouraged to compare their energy bills and claim a $250 payment to ensure that they are getting the best deal possible with their energy plans.
A new round of the Power Saving Bonus starts on Friday 24 March and will be available to all Victorians who have a residential electricity account and are the account holder. This includes any households that received a payment through the current round.
If you have high energy or water bills, you may not be getting the best rates. Comparing your bills through the Power Saving Bonus programs may provide residents with access to reduced rates, concession prices or hardship payments. Energy efficiency options could also help keep the home warm in winter and cool in summer without costing too much.
For residents that need assistance in claiming this one-off payment, Council will hold a series of ‘Bring your Bills’ days.
The first event will be at the Newbury Child and Community Centre on Wednesday 29 March from 10.00am – 2pm, where you can meet experts from the water, power and service sectors who will help you claim this bonus and provide free, confidential advice.
One payment is available per household. You will need to bring:
• all pages of a recent electricity bill under your name
• your bank account details (BSB and account number)
Future ‘Bring your Bills’ days will be announced shortly.
For more information call Council's Household Energy Officer on 0447 772 429.
