More support for young Hume families

Hume City Council provides a range of free Maternal and Child Health Services to our community, focusing on the early development of children to ensure our youngest citizens have a great start in life.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said the Maternal and Child Health Services connected specialists in child health and development for Hume families.

“Babies don’t come with a manual - that is why our dedicated team of Maternal and Child Health nurses and parent support workers offer families a range of support services,” Cr Moore said.

“Along with appointments at key milestones in your baby’s development, the Maternal and Child Health Services offer a range of specialised programs on different topics, including feeding and sleep.

“Every baby is unique, so having support focused on the key areas of your baby’s wellbeing can really help alleviate any uncertainty or concerns early on.” 

The new Breast Feeding Support Service provides free support and expert advice three days a week at the Broadmeadows Valley Children's Centre.

Families wanting support with breastfeeding can now come along to any session and lactation consultants from the Maternal and Child Health team are available to assist. No appointments are necessary.
