Hume Empowering Communities Round 1 Funded Projects
Published on 11 March 2022
Hume Empowering Communities Action Group is pleased to announce the successful projects for Round 1 of the Hume Empowering Communities initiative funded by the Victorian Government as part of the Building Safer Communities Program.
The Hume Empowering Community Assessment Panel received a large number of project proposals for the delivery of Round 1 projects from Hume community organisations.
Total funding of $306,769 will be administered across five Hume-based projects to be developed and led by Goonawarra Neighbourhood House, Igbo Association of Victoria Australia, Northern Community Legal Centre, headspace Craigieburn and Hume-Whittlesea Local Learning & Employment Network. These projects commenced on 1 March 2022 and will be delivered throughout 2022 with two projects continuing in 2023.
The projects all align with Hume Empowering Communities common goal that children entering adolescence develop and maintain life skills, engage in school, and have safe, stable and nurturing relationships with parents and/or caregivers. These projects promote community safety and crime prevention within the Hume City Council population through sustainable capacity building, culturally responsive services and activities that support the development of fundamental life skills for a healthy future.
Further information about the funded projects for Round 1 can be found here.
As part of the Hume Empowering Communities initiative, capacity-building workshops including grant writing, project budgeting, evidence-based project planning and development will be delivered. These workshops will be launched throughout 2022 to support community organisations for Hume Empowering Communities Round 2 applications.
Hume Empowering Communities Round 2 funding applications will open in November 2022. Organisations and incorporated groups from the Hume community are encouraged to apply for funding.
