Council Meeting Wrap Up - Monday 26 June 2023

Welcome to a quick wrap up of key items that were discussed at our Council Meeting on Monday 26 June 2023. 

1. Council’s Annual Budget 2023/24  

Our Annual Budget 2023/24 was formally adopted and will provide financial support to those who need it most. It includes significant investment in libraries, leisure centres, preschools, maternal and child health and aged and disability programs.  

2. Draft Animal Management Plan 

We agreed that our Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2023-2026 will be opened for another round of public consultation from 27 June 2023 to 25 July 2023.    

3. Reduce harm caused by Gambling 

As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce problem gambling in our community, we will write to the Chairperson, Public Accounts and Estimates Committee to follow-up on the findings of the Victorian Auditor General’s gambling report. 

4. Event Grant 2023/2024 - Round 1 Recommendations 

We have approved giving $97,250 to 11 applicants as a part of our 2023/2024 Event Grant Program. This will benefit local organisations working in the areas of social justice and sustainability.
