Council Meeting Wrap Up: Tuesday 13 June 2023
Published on 15 June 2023
Welcome to a quick wrap up of key items that were discussed at our Council Meeting on Tuesday 13 June 2023.
1. Our new plan for climate action
We adopted our draft Climate Action Plan 2023-2028 and will soon release it for public feedback. The plan includes a proposed carbon neutral target by 2030 for Council.
2. Sunbury Traffic Investigation (Elizabeth Drive)
As Sunbury grows, so will its traffic. We’ll look at the Riddell Road/Gap Road and Elizabeth drive intersection in Sunbury to determine the upgrades needed for a smoother and safer drive.
3. Naming Proposal: Pearl Iris Park
We endorsed that a new reserve at 38 Bushranger Drive Sunbury will be named Pearl Iris Park. The park will be named in honour of the late Pearl Iris Potts (1916 – 2008), a Sunbury local who lived with her family of eight children, and husband Robert (Bob) Potts.
4. Planning for the future of Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre
We committed to creating a Hume Leisure Service and Infrastructure Plan. This will guide the future of the Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre so it can continue to meet the needs of Sunbury’s growing community.
More details, including official minutes, notices of motion and audio recordings will be published later this week.
