Expression of Interest for Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member

We're seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons to be appointed as an independent member of our Audit and Risk Committee.

The appointment is for a period of up to four years each term to a maximum of eight years.

The Audit and Risk Committee has responsibility for:

  • Monitoring and providing advice on risk management and fraud prevention systems and controls;
  • Monitoring the compliance of council policies and procedures with:
    • The overarching governance principles; and
    • The Local Government Act 2020, the regulations and any ministerial directions;
  • Monitoring council financial and performance reporting;
  • Monitoring and providing advice on internal controls;
  • Monitoring and providing advice on risk management and fraud prevention systems and controls;
  • Overseeing the internal and external audit functions; and
  • Monitoring compliance with CEO Employment and Remuneration Policy.

Candidates shall hold senior accounting or IT qualifications (CISA, CGEIT, or comparable) and be experienced in audit in nationally recognised accounting firms or hold senior management qualifications and be experienced in management at a senior level.
