Green bin roll-out deliveries complete
Published on 20 June 2024
Hume City Council is pleased to announce that the delivery stage of the green bin roll-out is now complete!
In the last 11 weeks we’ve delivered over 42,000 bins to residential properties all over the municipality, starting in April in Kalkallo and Mickleham and wrapping up in Sunbury last week.
Every household in Hume City should now have a food and garden bin. If your property missed out on a green bin, or you already had one and received an extra one by mistake, please fill out this form.
We will start emptying new green bins from 1 July. Green bins are collected every two weeks, alternating with the recycling bin. The day of the week that your bins are collected will stay the same.
Use the ‘know my bin day’ tool on our website to find out when your first green bin collection will take place. It will be either the first or second week of July on your usual bin day.
You can start filling your green bin a week or two before then. Make sure to check our list of what can and can’t go in the green bin before you start to fill it up.
We also have some tips on how to use your green bin and kitchen caddy, including how to keep them clean and fresh.
