Council appoints new CEO

Sheena Frost has been appointed as Hume City Council’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Mayor, Cr Joseph Haweil said he was delighted that Ms Frost, a highly regarded leader in local government, would be leading the organisation though an exciting time in Hume’s history.

“I congratulate Ms Frost on her appointment to this important role in the Victorian local government sector and in our community,” Mayor Haweil said.

“Ms Frost joins us on the back of five years as a senior leader at Victoria’s largest municipality, the City of Casey,” Cr Haweil said.

“Her experience and track record speaks for itself with Ms Frost being recognised in 2019 as one of the Institute of Public Administration Australia’s Top 50 Public Sector Women,” he said.

Ms Frost will bring to Hume experience across both service delivery and corporate services functions, and a background in leading change programs to uplift capabilities within an organisation to deliver improved service outcomes to the community. 

“I’m passionate about the local government sector and the ability it has to directly and positively impact the lives of the community and look forward to leading Hume to deliver value to all those who live, work and visit,” Ms Frost said.

Coming from a growth Council, Ms Frost is well equipped to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced when planning and delivering services for a community that is experiencing rapid population growth across all age groups.

“I’m excited to be working with Councillors as they embark on their new Council Vision and Plan for Hume, and look forward to working with staff on how we will embark on this together,” she said.

Thanking Interim CEO Roslyn Wai for her organisational leadership and commitment to the Hume community during this period of transition, Cr Haweil noted she would continue to play a critical senior executive leadership role supporting Ms Frost realise the Council’s vision for the organisation’s future.

Ms Frost will officially take-up the role on 26 July 2021.
