You told us, we listened! Hume locals to enjoy upgraded Civic Plaza

More opportunities to meet, relax and play in Broadmeadows are now available, with the Civic Plaza upgrade now complete and open for use.
Hume City Council has updated Broadmeadows Civic Plaza with a series of unique design elements that respond to community consultation carried out last year.
The consultation asked key users of the space questions about how it is currently used, what could be improved, and ideas for future design to make it more inviting.
In response to community feedback, we’ve installed colourful footpath decals, bespoke furniture, planter boxes, shelter and more lighting.
The upgrades are intended to encourage further activity in and around Civic Plaza, by making it more appealing for gatherings and social activities.
The project was delivered in partnership with the Victorian Government, who contributed $450,000 through the Suburban Revitalisation Program.
Quotes to be attributed to Mayor Cr Joseph Haweil
“Civic Plaza is the heart of Broadmeadows, with countless locals walking through it to access the Hume Global Learning Centre, Council offices, Broadmeadows Railway Station and Broadmeadows Shopping Centre every day.
“The joint investment of $580,000 between Council and the Victorian Government has ensured Broadmeadows Civic Plaza meets the needs of current and future users and becomes an even more vibrant and active town centre for the community.”
