The City of Hume is committed to creating a community that respects and celebrates diversity.

Racism is when someone is treated unfairly due to their race, skin colour, ethnicity, or religion. It can take place anywhere, including workplaces, schools, housing, with police, banking, public transport, hospitals, restaurants, shops, or any public space.

Racism has no place in the community and we encourage and support initiatives that empowers everyone to prevent and respond to racism.

Anti-racism Reporting and Support Services

Depending on your situation, there are different ways to report racism or get support for yourself or someone else facing racism.

Hume City Council is currently developing an anti-racism support services booklet and this page will be updated in early 2025.

Community Reporting Tool (VEOHRC)

The Community Reporting Tool by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) is a quick and easy way for you to report racism or other discrimination that you’ve experienced or witnessed.

Reports made by the tool are sent securely and confidentially to the Commission.

When you make a report, you can choose not to be contacted or ask the Commission to contact you if you want further information about your rights or how you can make a complaint.
