Anti-racism Reporting and Support Services

Depending on your situation, there are different ways to report racism or get support for yourself or someone else facing racism.

The booklet is developed in partnership between Hume City Council, Merri-bek City Council and Darebin City Council.

Please note that an updated version, translated into community languages, will be available at a later date.

The Community Reporting Tool by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC) is a quick and easy way for you to report racism or other discrimination that you’ve experienced or witnessed.

Reports made by the tool are sent securely and confidentially to the Commission.

When you make a report, you can choose not to be contacted or ask the Commission to contact you if you want further information about your rights or how you can make a complaint.

In 2023, Hume Council partnered with Victoria University on the “Understanding reporting barriers and support needs of people experiencing racism” project.

This is a tool kit made by Australian high-school students, for Australian high-school students, that we can use to take down racism brick by brick.

Report: An Anti-Racism Framework - The Perspectives of Multicultural Australian

In 2023, the Australian Human Rights Commission commissioned the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA) to conduct national consultations with multicultural communities to ensure that a diversity of voices within multicultural communities would be heard and centred in discussions about a national anti-racism framework. This report presents the findings and recommendations that followed consultations with more than 1200 people with lived experience of racism from across Australia.
