Helen qualified in Special Education working in Not-for-Profit organisations. She is an advocate for social justice and individual rights.
Helen works for Maria Vamvakinou MP, Federal Member for Calwell assisting and advocating for constituents with federal, state and local government issues.
Elected to Hume City Council 2008, the Mayor twice, in 2010/11 and 2015/16 year. Portfolio responsibilities included Human Services, Friends of Aileu Community Committee, Hume Interfaith Network Committee, Hume Jobs and Skills Taskforce and Hume Audit Committee.
In 2015/16 was known as the “Pink Mayor” advocating for women and men to take control of their health, and screen for Breast, Prostate and Bowel Cancers.
Continues being active, on the boards of Dallas Neighbourhood House, Meadow Heights Education Centre, Meadow Heights Community Foundation, Greek Orthodox Community of Broadmeadows & Districts Inc., Hume Interfaith Network Committee, and TLCCG (Tullamarine Landfill Community Consultation Group).
Helen is a Patron of Banksia Gardens Community Services and the 2018 recipient of the Robert Kumar Community Award for contribution to the Hume community.
In the 2021 Queen’s Birthday honours, Helen received an OAM for her contribution to the Hume community.
