What are the proposed works?

We're upgrading the Grand Boulevard and Hanson Road intersection in Craigieburn to improve safety and traffic flow.

The works completed include:

• Installing raised safety platforms on the East and West roundabout approaches (completed)

• New kerb and channel works (completed)

• Drainage improvements (completed)

• Safety barrier installations (completed)

The works in progress include:

• New line marking and signage

• Asphalt works

• Traffic management measures during construction

Why are we doing this?

This upgrade is designed to:

• Improve safety for all road users by managing approach speeds to the roundabout

• Manage traffic flow through the intersection

• Upgrade drainage to improve wet weather safety

• Upgrade existing safety barriers to modern standard for improved safety

When will the works start and complete?

• Start date for in progress works: Saturday 22 March 2025

• Expected duration: Approximately 1 week

• Working hours: Daily, 7am - 6pm

• Works undertaken: Ashphalt works, new line marking and signage

• Note: Timeline may be affected by weather conditions and site requirements

Will access to local businesses be maintained?

• Yes, access will be maintained to all local businesses and facilities

• Specific arrangements will be communicated directly to affected businesses

What traffic changes can I expect?

• Grand Boulevard (between Hanson Road and Hamilton Hume Pde) will be closed during the ashphalt works
  
  
• Alternative detour routes will be clearly signed during closures. These will be in place from Aitken Boulevard and Grand Boulevard (closest to Hume Hwy)

• Reduced speed limits (40km/h) around the work zone

• Traffic management personnel will be on site to assist with traffic flow

How will this affect my journey?

• Plan your journey in advance

• Allow extra travel time

• Follow all signed detours and traffic management instructions

• Consider alternative routes during peak construction periods
