Flowers of Melbourne’s Western Plains - Lesley Kubalsky

Lesley K 1.jpg

Lesley presents a solo exhibition of watercolours based on the indigenous plants and flowers of Melbourne's Western Plains and hillside grasslands in Hume, featuring the quiet beauty of wildflowers and flowers from trees and shrubs.

Two years ago, Lesley joined the Hume Gardens for Wildlife Program without any knowledge of the local, indigenous plants. Gradually coming to know and appreciate them, she has been compelled to express their subtle beauty through art. Further research and close examination of their structures and characteristics has helped her learn about these plants and motivated her to show the paintings to generate community awareness and interest in indigenous plants common to Hume and, perhaps, interest in the Gardens for Wildlife program as well.
