Lost and Found by Lisa Buckland
In her first solo exhibition, Westmeadows artist Lisa Buckland explores a personal journey of grief and recovery through art.
How do you cope when life unravels? How do you find solace in a time of loss? Through the language of painting Lisa finds a strength in vulnerability that allows her to explore painful subjects that are difficult to communicate in other ways.
“Night is veiled. I live in shadows. Black and foggy my sight; the stars have fallen from the sky. Distorted vision. Every morning I stumble in a black and white pallor. It's a long Winter in the deep macular” - Lisa Buckland 2020
Through a series of self-portraits, metaphorical images of the human psyche and works celebrating her Mother’s garden full of birds, the artist leads us on a transformative path from experiences of ill health, loss, grief and ultimately rediscovery.
This exhibition is viewable at the Town Hall Broadmeadows Gallery through February 2021 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8am - 4.30pm.
