Particulars - Ornina Art Group
Through this group exhibition, The Ornina Art Collective aim to engage viewers with messages of peace. They depict the hard work of labor, daily life, and the beauty of the natural world to express the love of painting that motivates them to gather as a group.
Ornina Art Group started in 2021 with seven artists of Iraqi background who speak English, Arabic, Kurdish, and Chaldean. The collective are motivated by their passion for the arts and were inspired to name the group after "Ornina" the singer and musician of the temple of Ishtar, the goddess of love and fertility, who is responsible for all life and is located in the city of Mary in the south of Syria 2600 BC.
The artists have exhibited in many galleries in both Australia and overseas. Some members have been connected with the Whittlesea Council & Hume City Council - Arts Culture and events for many years. The Ornina Art Group welcome new participants.
Public Program: Self-led Sketching Workshop Saturday 8 June, 10:30am - 12:30pm
