The People and Culture division provides strategic and operational advice on all matters relating to our people working for the Hume City Council. We lead and oversee the implementation of the people and culture strategy, talent acquisition, leadership development and organisational development, workforce planning, the Gender Equality Action plan and much more.

Talent Acquisition

Our Talent Acquisition team support Hume City Council when it comes to hiring the diverse talent required to deliver the services we offer to our growing community. They are responsible for ensuring an excellent experience for our hiring community and all the candidates that engage with Council. 

People & Partnerships

Our People & Partnerships team assist leaders and employees in all aspects of the employee lifecycle. They are passionate professionals that play a pivotal role in aligning our Council objectives with the development and well-being of our most valuable asset – our people. The team is made up of business partners, advisors and administration support. 

Our business partners are the linchpin between employees and the organisation. Their role involves building strong relationships across all levels, understanding the unique needs of various teams, and providing tailored solutions to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Payroll 

Our Payroll team are responsible for processing the fortnightly pay for all Council employees in accordance with the Hume City Council Enterprise Agreement provisions.  The team also support with administrating our payroll system, processing leave requests and delivering reporting and analytics on our workforce to help us make strategic decisions for our people.

Organisational Capability

Organisational capability includes Organisational Development and Learning and Development. The team create and implement high quality initiatives across the employee lifecycle, to enhance organisational effectiveness in leadership, culture and capability and ensure there are always opportunities for our employees to learn and grow. These initiatives are created in partnership with Council leadership and align with the Council priorities.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

Our OHS team are responsible for supporting Council to identify, assess and manage the key risks to the health and safety of our people. Through a business partnering model, they facilitate close collaboration and consultation with key stakeholders to proactively manage health and safety matters. 

Return to Work

Our Return-to-Work team provides support to our employees who are recovering from workplace injuries or illnesses. They take care to provide the appropriate assistance employees need to reintegrate into the workplace safely.
