Families in Sunbury will enjoy a new outdoor space and water play area including safer access, seating, water features and water play equipment.
What we're doing
We are replacing the ageing outdoor toddler pool space at Sunbury Aquatic and Leisure Centre with a new water play area and outdoor space.
The zero-depth attraction includes a soft fall surface, slides, a tipping bucket, spray loops, an aqua dome, jets, fountains, funnels, spray features and covered by shade sails. The project also includes the improvement for accessibility to the outdoor pool space with ramps and removal of steps between pools.
The water features included in the final design of the new outdoor water play area was developed using the community selections made via Participate Hume.
Council is taking this opportunity to complete additional upgrade works in the outdoor pool area, including painting of the 50m pool shell in readiness for the summer season.
When will it be completed?
Construction commenced late August 2024 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2025.
Partnership
State Government and Hume City Council are investing $3.8 million towards this redevelopment.
