Important information for applicants
Local Government Elections will be held on 26 October 2024.
These elections are governed by the Local Government Act 2020 and as a result Hume City Council has an Election Caretaker Policy to ensure the election is conducted in a fair, ethical and equitable manner.
Council's Election Caretaker Policy, section 5.3.4 states that "Council will refrain from... the allocation of community grants and other significant direct funding to community...". This applies for 32 days before the election until 6pm on the day of the election.
When considering this policy it has been decided to suspend Environmental Scholarship applications from 17 September 2024 until 6pm on 26 October 2024.
Environmental Scholarships applied for and approved prior to 17 September 2024 will continue to be administered during the caretaker period, however no new applications will be accepted during this time.
Please note: As per the Environmental Scholarship Guidelines, a minimum of 2 weeks must be allowed for application approval. This means that applications will stop being accepted from 3 September 2024 and resume being accepted on 27 October 2024.
For information on eligibility and application details, read the Guidelines and Application form above. For further queries, call Council's Environmental Community Development Officer Jo Burton on 0455 091 999.
