From Monday 8 July, we’ll be undertaking a number of works to improve safety.
All works will take place between 7am and 5pm and will be
completed over approximately four weeks, weather permitting.
Access to the reserve will be maintained, however access to courts may be limited while these works take place. Please see below for more information.

We’ve upgraded Progress Reserve so that everyone can play!
What we’re doing
As part of the Progress Reserve Masterplan, we completed works to fulfill Stage One of the project. This stage provided a range of play equipment for all ages and abilities and enables facilitation of activities in a safe and inclusive environment, while reflecting the diversity of the Coolaroo community.
Stage One included a new purpose-built play environment, which includes:
- a new scooter track
- new covered picnic and BBQ area
- nature play area
- climbing tower
- tunnel play
- junior and senior play areas
- landscaped garden
- tree planting
- connected path network
- irrigated lawn
- new public toilets.
We're currently planning for future upgrades of the reserve. We will keep you informed about future consultation opportunities as we continue working through our planning process.
Why we’re doing it
To provide the Coolaroo and broader Hume community with quality recreational open space for all ages and abilities to meet and socialise in an inviting, safe and relaxed environment.
Current safety improvement works
From Monday 8 July, we’ll be undertaking a number of works to improve safety, such as:
• removing the old playground, furniture and wall
• replacing deteriorated basketball backboards
• additional repair works associated with asphalt, concrete and grass surfaces.

Timeline
- Construction tender: January 2022
- Construction begins: March 2022
- Stage One construction complete: March 2023
- Stage One Grand Opening: April 2023
